We Oppose

Donald Trump

Donald Trump is a threat to our democracy. His reckless abandon for the rule of law and our democratic institutions have sparked crisis after crisis. Even worse, thousands upon thousands of Americans have needlessly perished from COVD-19 as a direct result of Trump's failure to be a responsible president. Our lives and our democracy hang in the balance. He must be defeated in 2020.

Susan Collins

In Maine, U.S. Senator Collins has played middle of the road for too long. The final straw has been her failure to stand up to Donald Trump's administration and to support the Supreme Court candidacy of Brett Kavanaugh. Maine working families deserve leadership they can count on, not someone they cannot trust. Collins is up for re-election in 2020.

#NoHowardNo

When Starbucks founder Howard Schultz was about to launch a vanity campaign for president, AWF was fast to call out his selfish candidacy and to warn that he would help re-elect Donald Trump by splitting the vote, just as Ralph Nader did in 2000.

AWF created and launched the grassroots #NoHowardNo campaign to discourage Schultz from running. AWF educated the media about Schultz's record, launched videos and trailed Schultz public appearances with mobile billboards to let him know we were not going to allow him to run for president without publicizing the truth about his record.

Schultz was surprised by the backlash to his possible candidacy. But we weren't because we helped to create it.

Thankfully, Schultz buckled and made the right choice not to run.

RESULT: Win - Schultz Withdrew

Stop Ralph Nader

Ralph Nader split the vote in 2000 and handed George Bush the election. When he tried to run again for president in 2004, AWF opposed his ego-driven effort with a series of ads demanding he withdraw.

RESULT: Win

Mitch McConnell

Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is among our nation's most reckless leaders, often obstructing progress, hurting working families and enabling Donald Trump's behavior and actions. McConnell needs to go and AWF opposes him until he does so.

RESULT: Pending

Tom Corbett

Pennsylvania Tom Corbett turned the clock backwards on progress during his first term. AWF opposed him and spent more than $1 million communicating his record to voters before they went to the polls. That year Corbett was the nation's only incumbent Republican governor to lose his reelection. AWF was pleased to help make that happen.

RESULT: Defeated (2014)

Tom Cotton

Senator Tom Cotton (AR) is routinely an obstructionist to progress who supports Donald Trump's reckless and hurtful leadership. In Arkansas, Cotton has done little to make life better for working families. His world views often center around the United States engaging in military strikes foremost and diplomacy as an afterthought.  Cotton is up for reelection in 2020.
